The Internet Conference on Material Flow Analysis of Integrated Bio-Systems
(http://www.ias.unu.edu/proceedings/icibs/ic-mfa) starts in March and
offers a number of papers related to aquaponics. These titles of papers
would certainly interest some of you.

+ Digester Fishpond Interaction in Integrated Biomass System
+ Material flow in "Pozo Verde" Integrated Farm in Cauca Valley
       Province, Colombia.
+ Phytoremediation of aquaculture effluents.
+ Study on surface aquaponics in natural waters with nutrient
      flow analysis
+ Recovery and Utilization of By-Products from Greenhouse
Operations with respect to Recirculating Aquaculture,
       Hydroponic and Mushroom Cultivation Systems
+ Rural Development through Integrated Waste Management in Egypt
+ Nutrient reclamation in wastewater fed facultative pond through
      management of fish-macrophyte combinations
+ Increase of fish yield and planktonic diversity due to improved
water quality in Navile Lake ecosystem, Shimoga, India.

Mike-

We put up a temporary greenhouse almost four years ago and we're very
pleased with the life of the plastic we used. We got it from : Bob's
Tough Plastic, Box 42ME, Neche, ND 58265 Ph: 204-327-5540. They request
2 stamps if you'd like samples of their products.

Jennifer,

We used a UV resistant plastic on a temporary greenhouse we set up over 4
years ago and have been very pleased with it. You can get a catalog from :
Bob's Tough Plastic, Box 42ME, Neche, ND 58265 Ph: 204-327-5540. They
request that you send 2 stamps if you'd like samples of their products.

Hope this helps.
Darlene

*Twenty years ago, my uncle ran 3M. As I passed thru' town, he gave me a=
 roll
of aluminum tape, (self sticking, no duct tape) and I think I've seen it =
in
automotive body repair supply businesses. (He also gave me panels of 5/1=
6"
insulation, self sticky, with aluminum. 3M sold production run scrap to
employees very cheaply.)

If merely covering the PVC w/something like vapor barrier and duct tape a=
s a
fastener - or two sided tape/spray adhesive - why not a wrap of poly whic=
h IS
the correct type, cut into the 'pi x dia' width?

Aluminum mirrors are used for UV relection, specifically. I wonder what
minimal (?) but additional effect it would have to have the UV passing th=
ru
and reflecting and passing back thru... a double dose so to speak. In UV=

stabilized poly, is the feature UV retardant (UV opaque) or UV tolerant o=
r UV
immune?

As for latex, Glidden (perhaps the parent, ICI) and some other company, m=
ake a
(water/humidity) vapor barrier paint, equiv to 1 mil poly. As to being a=

barrier to these out-gasses, I'm in the dark.

I would have thought a change in formulation causing unsuitability would =
be
reasonable cause for return of material, if done before use. (I assume y=
ou
kept it "to save time?") Is the old formulation no longer available at a=
ll? =

(For future users.)

The plasticiser in the "wrong" poly is likely to spread through the
"right" poly.

As white PVC tubing is 80% reflective anyway, I doubt using reflective
tape would significantly affect things. If worried, put the aluminized
surface facing the PVC pipe.
