It depends on the target weight for the final product and the stocking rate.
We shoot for 50 g fingerlings. If you buy fingerlings in the U.S. they will
be about 0.5 g and you will need a nursery stage to grow them to desired
size.

That's because I am well on the road to killing a million fish LOL

what a way to start the day . Starting it to a tank of hypoxic fish. Not
sure what caused it yet as everything was running fine and no apparent
mechanical breakdowns. Of course it would be my replacement breeders and
fingerlings. So it looks like a fish fry at my house :) . Only 3 died
outright but I have another dozen who don't look to good , swimming upside
down and all. Removed them to one of the empty big tanks and most are
starting to recover , though I think if the dozen don't start swimming right
by night it is off to get the filleting tools out.

>From an OLD newspaper article:

DICKINSON, N.D. (AP)-

"If one radiator can cool a car engine, why can't several cool a house?
Well, they can, says retired farmer George Heiser. Heiser strung three
$5.00 radiators together and hooked them up to a garden hose from his
85-foot well. He then built a box on top of the homemade cooler and
installed an old attic fan at the end. Prairie air as hot as 105 degrees is
sucked in from the outside and enters the house cooled to 53 degrees, Heiser
said. His total investment was $40. "I'll put it up against any air
conditioner", said Heiser. "We haven't used our air conditioner once this
summer".

ron-

is your system greenwater or clearwater? if greenwater, check what you
overnight o2 demand is. you might need extra aeration at night. if
clearwater--what o2 do you normally operate at--could there have been a
temporary electrical outage?

you might get some mortality spread out over a few days---also, keep an eye
out for diseases, if anything is lurking there it could well express itself
now

Sam I normally operate O2 at 8 And all the clocks were running fine , no
loss of time. I now have a few more fish swimming sideways :( My biggest
males except for 3 are now in the freezer and another one of those is
swimming sideways tonight. My system is clearwater Ricirculation and the
only thing that has happened is 4 days ago I did a 50% water change

and my makeup water is usually from the tank I put the fish into today. Well
tonight it looks like two thirds are happy campers and having fun of a large
tank instead of the smaller one they were in
