Thanks...

Found it!! Now I know why I didnt recognise the name!! We call it

dasheen or coco!!

Thanks... I would like to do some trials, see..

Has anyone done tubers apart from taro, and willing to share

experiences?

DASHEEN(COCO, EDDOE) TARO

This is a native of the Pacific region and the term Taro covers a

variety of tubers of this family. The Dasheen is grown in the Caribbean

and arrives in the UK via sea freight. This starchy tuber is used

instead of or with Potato and its leaf is consume like that of spinach.

Description:

Large tuber of about 3-8in diameter and 4-10in length when cut you will

see either a mauve or whitish flesh with some red speckle. The taste is

like that of a nut with a dumpling like texture. Dasheen grows near or

far from water and depending where the taste will alter. The Japanese

commercially cultivate this tuber for it;s starch which is then

extracted for the use in glue for stamps and envelopes.
