Rob - We're all still here (183 as of this morning). I see this as a very
busy time for many of our subscribers. Educators smack in the middle of
second term, farmers seriously planning (or already involved in) spring
planting, researchers with deadlines, and many of our members are heavily
involved in action regarding the new organic standards, not to mention the
time most of us spend taking care of our daily required activities.

We do have several new members who are in the "decision" stage regarding
integrated systems, however, and I would hope that several would submit a
short introduction with their specific concerns so that those who have time
available could comment. Most of the original subscribers have introduced
themselves, and I could repost these intros so that the current group has
some idea of the expertise available to them. I could consolidate the
original messages and send as one.

Comments?

Thanks for the response...I too am busy planting, planning and otherwise
involved in spring activities (or rebuilding from ice storm '98). I regard
this list as a very valuable resource and worthy of my time to displace
some of my very busy schedule. BTW, thank you for your efforts to broadcast
an appeal for victims of the ice storm....some people that I know are still
without power...but their spirit literally SHINES in the face of their
adversity...gives me hope for the human race as a whole. Rob

A view on multinational corporations: Black & Decker saw fit to announce
the closing of a factory near here (throwing 350-500 people out of work) in
one of the hardest-hit cities from ice storm 98. Talk about kicking people
when they are down. Guess I'll be buying Milwaukee products from now on.

Most, if not all, of the Milwaukee products I've seen are imported. DeWalt
and Porter-Cable are both high quality and American made. just a thought.

Just so you know. DeWalt is made by Black and Decker.

Hello,
My name is Chad Kruger. I am presently serving as the Lab
Technician for Northwest College in Kirkland, Washington (near
Seattle). Part of my job includes maintaining the Applied Science
Center facilities, which includes a Tilapia tank in a greenhouse. We
are just starting to put together a hydroponics system. Most of the
work we do is actually in organic gardening for relief work overseas,
but we are interested in most anything regarding agriculture and
aquaculture. We are presently consulting an ecologically-based food
raising project in the African nation of Zambia.
Personally, I am planning to pursue a graduate degree in Land
Resources. I intend to continue my work in ecological and agricultural
development overseas to help those suffering from poverty and hunger
help themselves.
I have found the information from this discussion group quite
enlightening. I have no particular questions yet, but I'm sure they
will come as we develop our facility.
Chad Kruger
