Bill,
The information on the iron studies conducted by Netafilm and the Univ
of Fla is at
http://www.netafim.com/netafim/doa_iis.dll/Serve/Item/English/1.4.10.1
.html

Here are the conclusions:
CONCLUSION: An iron control system was designed, installed and
maintained to meet the following conditions: very high iron levels in
the water (6 p.p.m.), limited space, high cash crop (tropical foliage)
and individual drippers system. The 40 ac. farm was drip irrigated and
fertigated since 1991 without any significant clogging problems.
Clogging was avoided by:

using continuous gas chlorination;
ensuring perfect mix and contact time between the gas and the water;
using plastic filters and ten stage epoxy coated steel media tanks to
resist corrosion;
automatic backflushing of the system once an hour for 3 minutes, and
acid reclamation of the filtering bodies, discs and sand media.
The system was kept in excellent condition and replacement was needed
only on some small rubber parts on the hydraulic relay valves,
solenoids and plain steel bolts.

I remember comments like this back in the 60s when detractors were trying
to tell the American people what a mistake they were making in Viet Nam.
"Love it or leave it", they would say. 'Accept what America is doing, don't
question, don't criticize -- and everything will be OK.' Sort of the
equivalent of name calling; attacking someone's person rather than debating
the issue -- after all, knowledge takes time and effort, as opposed to
slogans that practically any politician will provide on CNN. Of course,
later, when the US was disgraced, when it found out what had really
happened in Viet Nam, these name-callers didn't have much to say.

Criticizing our gov't and even the American people is not just a national
past time. It is a vital way of expressing one's love and concern for
country, especially in this country. Such national introspection is one of
the more important things that makes this country great.

Kris is a patriot, someone who thinks before speaking. Someone, probably,
who from hard experience has learned to question instead of blindly
accepting or following a knee-jerk emotion. Yes, someone whose judgement is
fallible, but, nevertheless, seeks honest and open dialog with with others
who can and will think critically.

If you can do no more than intimidate and make ad hominem arguments, then
good riddance.

Agreed. But I suppose what Fred or the other cage rattlers said was
A-Q-U-A-P-O-N-I-C-S? Funny, you didn't reply to them.

I do apologize for stirring the pot so much. After rereading my post, I
realize that it sounded as if I endorsed the article. That article was
sent to me and I was as disturbed as anyone with its content. I don't
want to believe that our country has fallen so far into the toilet. But,
as Jim said so well this morning, we do have proof that Viet Nam was an
unjust and illegal war. If anyone that was in Viet Nam is offended by my
style, I do apologize. But, since I have killed many in the name of
"peace", I believe it is my patriotic duty to try and make sure that no
one else's son is sent out to fight for an unjust cause.

I am willing to die protecting my family and my country but, I will not
endorse further illegal wars. The word war should be obsolete. War is
like litigation in that, only generals and lawyers win. I believe that
those responsible for 911 should be punished, long and hard but, killing
just begets more killing. I say put them on a chain gang for life, and I
hope they live a long time. If anyone has information that refutes that
article, please do send it to me. I just want to understand what's really
going on. I will change my opinion, as new data becomes available. I am
fairly sure that this period in the history of governments is by far the
most corrupt period, ever. I do hope that our government is not on scale
with the rest.

One of our greatest rights is, our right to question authority, and in my
mind that is all I am doing.

Those french split beans you recommended are just great! They are
blooming like mad and are attempting to take over the plant tray.

All my vegetables are blooming! yay! We finally recovered from the
raccoon raid and if the darn cold weather doesn't get here first, we
might actually harvest some vegetables. I can't wait! We've already
had a fish fry and the tilapia taste better than any fish I've ever
eaten with the exception of salmon.

I'm attempting to pollinate the vegetables with a soft brilled make-up
brush. Is there a better way? We have very few insects in the
greenhouse. Mud dawbers and a few spiders is about it.

Thanks again for your help about the green beans.

this turn out that way when the truth is known. I don't know for shure but my gut tells me 80%
chance that we not only asked for it but also help it happen. I really don't just praying I'm
wrong for once.

Hi Steve,

I'm not sure of the particulars. Bruce & his friend Dennis originated this
deal. I was told they came from a fish farm in the Phillipines. (I even had
to pay extra shipping because of this.)

I don't really have any info for you. I know Bruce is working right now (he
drives trucks

BIG TRUCKS!!) I'm sure that he will respond to you when he
reads this/these emails.

Lots of luck

.Steve (You might ask Bruce if it is o.k. to contact him off
list.)

Steve / Bruce,
Where oh where in the Philipinnes did they originate from ??

For the last 6 months I have been enviously reading all these posts
from you Guys ref Pacu, thinking I could never get Hold of them over
here ( in the Philipinne 'at' s ), and then this Bombshell turns up.
Nearest source I located was Thailand !

I 'at' m with you Steve,
I just gotta try these .
Really apreciate any info you could give here

( eternally Hopeful )

I just today took delivery of +/- 75 Pacu. I have these in a cage now with a
particular type of catfish (help me out Bruce
.I don't remember the name.)
Both of these fish are supposed to be tremendous "growers". I will keep the
list posted on these guys. Should be fun. The Pacu are Red Belly Pacu's.

Bruce and his friend Dennis (from Have-a-Hart) were able to negotiate a
price of $1.40/fish incl. shipping. These fish are farm bred in the
Phillipines. Contact Bruce, not me, if you are interested in the Pacu. But
pls., understand that this price fluctuates greatly depending upon
availability.

Thanks Chris,

I needed that. This is about the same thing that Bruce has told me. His
general and specific knowledge of anything in the water just amazes me
sometimes. As a matter of fact, amazes me most of the time.

I'm really looking forward to this Pacu adventure. Also to these catfish
that Bruce had me buy
.$7/ea. (wholesale!). And I can't remember the names
of the things to save my life

.but, they are also supposed to be
tremendously exponential growers.

I've had such bad luck with the tilapia that I truly need something to work.

Thanks again

Steve :)

Your going to like the way the pacu grow. Mine where 3" long eight weeks ago
and average 6's now. I need a scale to better ducument there growth. but it
is truly amazing you can almost watch them grow.
